Day 15, Sunday May 13, 2012

We left the country house and headed down to the town of El Masroig in Priorat. This was where we were going to find our Catalonian cooking school, Catacurian.

The view of the countryside from the Catacurian house was really nice. The days were warm and the evenings were cool, and there were birds everywhere.

Here is the Catacurian kitchen. It was just Kimberley and I enrolled in this three-day class.

We arrived for lunch, and our hostesses put some nice cheese, bread and wine out for us.

And here is the owner of Catacurian, Alicia. Besides being a fantastic cook and teacher, she runs a great business. Can't say enough about how good she was to us.

Today was my first time eating mussels. They were very fresh and quite good, just done in oil that was full of garlic cloves and rosemary (which grows everywhere down here). The main course, shown below, was a mix of seafood in a delicious tomato sufteget mixed with picado paste and fried potatoes. The wine was delicious too. We soon learned that Priorat wines are outrageously good.

We ate out in the back yard as the day cooled down. Dessert was greek yogurt flavoured with orange water.

We watched Contraband on the iPad before going to sleep. Dumb movie...but entertaining in a Hollywood way.
