Day 7, Saturday May 5, 2012

Our last full day in Normandy today. We drove to Bayeaux to see the cathedral and tapestry.

The 70 meter long tapestry from the 11th century documents the story of Harold and William and the ultimate ascension of William to the throne of England in 1066.

We got bread and cheese at the Bayeaux market and ate lunch in the car. We then drove back to Courseulles-sur-Mer for a coffee and a visit to the Juno Beach museum.

This turned out to be a really great museum, and it really catapulted my interest in Canadian participation in the liberation of Europe.

After an afternoon nap back at Ver-sur-Mer, we went out for a seafood dinner.
