Day 9, Monday May 7, 2012

After a restful morning, we left the Best Western in Chartres, but not before Kimberley drank something like four espressos to get a jump start on the day. Yikes!

We then drove south to the Loire valley to see some of the famous pre-revolutionary chateaus. We took this pic on the road. This part of France was very pastoral and beautiful.

And French roads are magnificent. High speed limit, very well maintained, and pretty to boot.

And then random magnificent events occur while driving...like stumbling across an enormous Roman aqueduct.

So, now in the Loire, we stopped at Chambord. Holy crap, this is a big chateaux.

The French people were completely justified in their revolution. The size and obvious expense of these enormous residences were unbelievable.

Our own hotel this evening wasn't shabby either. We stayed at Domaine de la Tortiniere and had a great room with a swanky balcony.

We had dinner downstairs at the hotel, and Kimberley had a really good lobster risotto.
