Day 22, Sunday May 20, 2012

After a nice breakfast at the B&B, we drove to Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Although the Grande Prix was taking place in just 4 days, the town was pretty quiet (being Sunday morning). Here's a pic in front of the Casino.

The harbour...just a few big yachts!

All the racing fences, barricades, grandstands and big screen TVs were up, but access in the city was open, and we were able to get right into the pit areas.

Monte Carlo is a weird place. It's like people took a chunk of Las Vegas a chunk of Paris and 30 banks, mixed up all the pieces and threw them at a mountainside.

In the afternoon we drove to Eze and climbed to the top of the mountain it is built on and looked over the medieval town and down to the Cote d'Azure.

Eze is quite pretty.

There is a beautiful view from the top...even on a rainy, cold day. Eze was settled as early as the Iron Age.

There is a beautiful garden planted at the top of the town.

Because we were cold, we stopped in at a little cafe called The Cactus, and had a hot chocolate.

In the evening we went back to the Tuscan restaurant we ate at yesterday, and essentially had a repeat dinner. Yes, it was that good.
