Day 11, Wed May 9, 2012

In the morning, we went back into Veigne one last time for another cafe creme and pastry. Kimberley stopped at Sur Le Chemin to pick up a gift for her friend Tara and had a long animated chat with the owner.

Once again, we headed south. This time it was a fairly long drive to the Dordogne river valley. We stopped in Sarlat, where it was nice and warm, and checked into our hotel, the Plaza Madeleine.

After dropping off our stuff, we headed out to Castelnaud La Chapelle. The castle here is called Chateau de Castelnaud, which is on the Dordogne river.

This is a fantastic middle-ages castle (12th-16th century) with a great view of the valley and several other nearby castles.

This castle was laid siege to in 1442.

Inside was an extensive museum of middle-ages warfare.

Another view from the top of Castelnaud.

There were a number of siege engines on display here.

Back in Sarlat, we had dinner at a nice little Italian restaurant where I had an amazing pasta with tomatoes and ricotta. Later, we hit the outdoor hot tub and sauna. Sweet!

Since we were rating such things for all the places we were staying, this hotel had an amazing shower.
