Day 8, Sunday May 6, 2012

Today, we left Normandy. We really liked this area, and were sad to go. We said goodbye to Mylene, our hostess, and hit the road.

We were on the way to Chartres, but first I wanted to have a quick drive through Carentan. Nearby, we found the Dead Man's Corner Museum. This was a pretty cool little private museum with plenty of 101st Airborne and 6th Fallschirmjager artefacts.

This was Winter's D-Day gear, donated to the museum.

We then drove to Chartres. Kimberley was keen to see the famous cathedral there.

It was pretty spectacular...particularly all the carving out the outside of the structure.

We had dinner at a little pizzeria where I had a calabrese salad with pesto...yum!
